Summer Sales Intern
Description:
A Sales intern at Wallace Welch & Willingham will gain hands on experience in the insurance industry. Interns will work with professionals in the field to learn the industry and begin their our project to develop their skills. Their main project will be to research, design and begin implementing a sales strategy to prospective clients. If you enjoy working with others, building relationships and having ownership over your own work, this is the industry, and internship for you.
OBJECTIVES:
• Introduce intern to all departments of Wallace Welch & Willingham
• Gain experience and basic knowledge of the insurance industry
• Create an opportunity for interns to assess their skills and interest in the insurance industry
• Throughout the entire internship, the intern will be working towards the ultimate goal of a full-time post-graduate position
DUTIES: To learn the insurance industry by helping various departments, and creating a business plan and taking the beginning steps to implement it. The intern will:
• Spend time in each department, claims, marketing, business development, with most of their time spend with the sales department. (Research industries, make cold calls, develop marketing campaigns, etc.)
• Develop a business plan, which will include information gathered from the research and education during the internship. [Find targeted classes of businesses, Demographics, types of carriers, Revenue Expectation and Analysis, Plan Time Management/Schedule, Research other Prospecting Resources (Networking, referrals, seminars, campaigns, internet, etc.), Assess Growth & Development Goals]
• Present the Business Plan: In the last couple weeks, the intern will present the business plan and begin to implement it, with the vision of and opportunity for future full-time employment in order to continue to use their business plan
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Junior or Senior undergraduate
• A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
• Available to work 40 hours/week

• Students should be able to provide own living arrangements and transportation to/from office

• Prefer a Tampa Bay area resident, or a student with many ties to the community
Compensation Details/Other Benefits:
$400/week
