There is an important need for good vision care. Over two-thirds of the U.S. population use corrective devises for vision problems. Yet, only 25% of the people who need vision correction currently have access to a vision program.
Even more critical is the fact that approximately 50,000 people will lose their sight this year because of diseases like cataracts and age-related macular degeneration problems that could have been identified with annual exams. Furthermore, regular vision care should be part of any good preventative health care program. Periodic examinations can provide early detection of diabetes, hypertension, glaucoma and other health conditions.
